Soliloquy | a Poem by Paolo Cesti

looking into your eyes

through such a distant tangibility

leads me to create

the most amiable assumptions

of who you could be.

not a word spoken,

but frozen in time

you just so happen

to tell me more precious stories

than the longest, archaic parables.

i can only imagine that those pretty lips

have been starved of meaningful kisses

for the longest time.

i can only imagine that your rose-colored cheeks

have missed the loving touch

of a hand so dear.

i can only imagine that your monochrome room

hasn’t felt the presence

of someone special in a while.

i don’t know you,

but i wish i did.
