Who are you and what do you do?
My name is Jake and I am a music artist, I go by the name Riordanary as its a play on words with my surname and it fits well with the sound of my music.
Why do you make music?
I make music as its my way of getting things off my chest. I feel I have a lot to say about life and I want to tell my story through music. Making the beats is one half of the process. It is my favourite part of making music; once I get it right, it's the body carrying that fresh outfit which in turn nurtures the soul. I design my own fashion.
How did you start making music?
Four years ago I made instrumentals with garage band on the iPad, I really got into this and the technical side of it. I decided to upgrade to Logic. after a couple years on logic, I wanted a new challenge, so I changed to Reason as its a more visual and creative DAW to work in. my sound of music changed dramatically.
Who, or what are your inspirations?
Yung Lean was my inspiration. I found his beats strange and melodic, his lyrics and delivery also, but both the beat and the vocals were two different things but oddly married up creating a vibe I really wanted to create. my family is very musical and they have been a massive influence towards structure, harmonies and feedback. my brother also helps me with techniques of production and also plays the guitar on my tracks. A very close friend of mine 'Jo' has been working very closely with me to understand flow and lyrics. a team of friends and family are my inspiration today, tomorrow and forever.
What's next for you?
An album is currently underway and will be coming out in the near future. I have music videos coming too, I want to make them myself, it is a lot harder for me than editing music, but I want to understand the process and be able to grow in this area too. I am currently in the process of working with two other artists and helping shape their sound and getting the production up. I also have friends doing photography and fashion that I am involved in too.
